  13. All this pedantic discourse on the failure of socialism in Bangladesh
  14. and elsewhere is futile. The failure of socialism can be attributed to
  15. one simple reason: Socialism as a political and economic model is
  16. severely flawed and impractical.

  18. The failure of rigid centralized economies attest quite well to this
  19. fact.

  21. Furthermore, the Marxist jargons of "class less" society, "dictatorship
  22. of the proletariat" et al are simply Gobbelesian propaganda aimed at
  23. inculcating support from the disdvantaged segments of a society.

  25. In any society financial stratifications will exist, reflecting the
  26. varying degrees of abilities. A society that does not reward its
  27. members for their efficiency and ability is bound to break down or
  28. at least totter towards economic collapse. The economies of the
  29. ex-Soviet Block countries provide ample evidence to this.

  31. While I do not call for free-wheeling laissez-faire capitalism, I
  32. believe that it is essential for individual enterprise and ability
  33. to be amply rewarded in any economic model. Of course, in my economic
  34. model I would expect state guarantees of minimum needs and social
  35. services, while freeing individuals to perform at their peek.

  37. Maybe we need a twist to old Marx's "From each according to his
  38. abilities, to each according to his needs". I have taken some
  39. liberties and tweaked it to marginally reflect the Kazist Economic
  40. model": "From each according to one's abilities, to each according
  41. to one's needs AND abilities". :-)
