- For the past couple of years the traditional Friday viewing nights have
- been cancelled due to budget problems. The tickets were free so I don't
- know why they just don't sell them for 5 or 10 bucks to offset the cost.
-
- Anyway it was well worth it. The 36" Crossly was open and on that night
- aimed at Saturn while they had one of the reflectors at the other end
- of the building aimed at M13. It was magnificent, not to mention the
- lovely drive up the mountain.
-
- If you are so inclined Lick still holds their "Music of the Spheres"
- program on 4 weekends during the summer. I think the tickets are around
- $20. And what they do is have a concert inside the Crossley dome. One
- weekend it will be Mozart and the next jazz. Afterwards the scope is
- open for viewing. I recommend that over the normal viewing nights
- because the crowd is much smaller and they look at more than one object.
- The one night I went we saw M57. And buy golly with a scope that size
- the objects really begin to look just like the pictures!
-
- You also get an official Lick Observatory wine glass with each ticket.
