- Hi from Australia! As I am also new to this game I shall give you some little
- hints about this region in non-technical terms. I might have the Intelsat
- numbers a little wrong, sorry if they are, but you will get the drift (No pun
- intended!) anyway!
-
- Ummm! Why New Zealand? From someone in that region you will loose a little bit
- of programming over what you would get in the USA! We can only see the
- following _notable_ satellites in ITU Region 3
-
- Intelsat V-F3 (C-Band)
- 14 Channels, RFO, C-Span, ABC and CNN are the only constant
- ones One B-Mac encoded signal (AFRTS) the rest are in the clear
- RFO is Secam, US Feeds are NTSC, except for C-Span
- which is PAL (and probably the most broring thing I
- have ever seen.
-
- Of course We _NEVER_ watch CNN 'cause it's not legal to
- do so without paying a subscription (even if it's in
- the clear!)
- Intelsat V-F2 (C-Band)
- Oops, think thats run out of fuel!
- Gorizont (C-Band)
- Nice, Very powerful, 2 Channels, One in Russian
- and one in Chinese
- Palapa (C-Band)
- Never actually bothered trying to find this one
- Indonesian
- Aussat A-1, A-2, A-3, B-1 (All Ku)
- Currently Australian Domestic News Feeds, We are
- supposed to be getting Pay-TV sometime!
-
- Unfortunately B-2 seem to have gone missing!
- Umm if any of you happen to see a strange very
- powerful signal somewhere off the ecliptic can you
- let us know 8-)
-
- Thats it! Reading this echo, and recently visiting Europe has made me very
- jeolous. The only satellite we have that IMHO is worth watching is Intelsat V-
- F3, even that is dated and almost out of fuel. I need to adjust the dish twice
- daily to even keep up with it.
-
- If you are moving to NZ you might pick up one or two more, being further to the
- east of here, but they will be weak 'cause they are pointed at the US not our
- region.
-
- BTW in NZ you will need a 3.8Metre or bigger C-Band Dish to pick that one up!
