- The Janeil makes a somewhat poor attempt to determine if it should be in
- wide band or narrow band mode. There have has been a rather detailed
- description of a modification to allow manual switching between wide and
- narrow posted to this newsgroup. Since everything I listen to is narrow,
- I just cranked pot VR200 clockwise quite a bit and it stayed in narrow mode.
- It switches to wide mode way too easily.

- The weakness more than likely comes from the fact it is in wide mode. Try
- turning pot VR200 clockwise and then hitting any button on the front. If there
- is still static, check to see if you have baseband filtering off. That makes
- a difference on mine. It should be unfiltered.

-
- I have an Echostar SRD4000 which has audio INPUT jacks. I run the baseband
- out to the Janeil, then take the audio L and R and hook them to the audio
- input jacks on the receiver. A command from the remote allows me to route
- sound from the Janeil through the normal receiver output jacks. Since an
- Echostar SRD4000 is much like a HTS V, maybe you can do that, too.

- Dunno.

-
- I think an LNB upgrade is a good bet. I have a 7.5 foot dish and I get very
- good reception with a 35 degree LNB
