- Actually, according to the papers in Calgary, the PPV isn't going
- to ready in time to broadcast the game, they're shooting for a
- Feburary start-up. I kinda dislike the fact the NHL is going to
- PPV, because of the fact that almost 80% of the games are covered
- already (in Calgary at least), and the other 20% are mostly
- weaker games hype-wise. Inevitably, for PPV to work, they need
- to get more of the big matchups consistently for someone to dish
- out $9.95, which means the public contract will be severely reduced.
-
- I wonder if they're going to scramble the feeds or not, I imagine
- they might not bother, because the service is geared towards
- local cable companies.
-
- PS. This isn't the first game on PPV, Minnesota had on a couple
- years back when they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Norm
- Green made lots of cash off it too, which was the spark for the
- "Canadian PPV Hockey League". (or whatever it's going to be
- called)
