- Hmmmm. I'm not sure that this is the best place to post this, but...
-
-
- I just ran across a laser disc that I hadn't seen before: The Little Mermaid
- in a Japanese pressing. It's CLV and "multi-lingual" (no sub-titles...the
- digital soundtrack is the original English, while the analog(ue) tracks
- are in Japanese). The quality of the transfer is quite fine.
-
- I picked up the next-to-the-last copy for myself, then put a "hold" on the
- last one, just in case anyone on the net is interested. The source is
- one of the Portland Tower Record/Video outlets (Gateway...102nd and
- N.E. Halsey, for the locals!). They told me that they had made a "special
- buy" directly from Japan; 15 copies of "The Little Mermaid" (oops, add
- quotes above, too), and 15 copies of "Cinderella."
-
- They sold out in two days (no copies of "Cinderella" left...I got mine,
- and the other two are now gone...sorry!).
-
- If anyone is interested in this LD, send me email immediately. I can
- only hold it a few days without a commitment to purchase it.
-
- I don't know if Tower is going to bring any more Japanese imports in,
- but one would certainly hope so.
-
- And given the feeding frenzy over these two...and the high quality of
- the discs...the Tower folks admitted to being "impressed."
-
- Progress??
