- Although this will probably change once the FCC has completed their
- interpretation of the new Cable Consumer Legislation it is my
- understanding that suppliers of certain programming place demands on
- cable companies in respect to where their programming is positioned
- in the channel line-up. Cable companies generally will buy programming
- in packages and have to adhere to certain "requirements" to receive
- the programming. In other words... we will sell you x but you must
- also take y and put and you must program x somewhere below channel 20.

- The price that cable companies are charged by those that deliver the
- programs can depend on where the programming is placed on the
- channel line-up. Cost factors and appeasing cable programmers
- would lead your cable company to move channels around!
