- Of course it is easily corrected. 40 years ago the Main Street crossing
- of the Erie Railroad in Kent Ohio incorporated a timer and zoned track
- circuits to
- accommodate this very situation. When the train stopped (on the main) at
- the station, the gates would be raised after a short delay. Departing the station,
- the train would proceed at a crawl for a short distance until the signals
- and gates were actuated again.
