- I should add that there were two operating rule books entitled ``Uniform
- Code of Operating Rules''. One was used by midwestern roads (Rock Island,
- Cotton Belt, M-K-T, etc.). The other Uniform Code was in use on Canadian
- roads (and sometimes on their U. S. counterparts) until it was replaced by
- the ``Canadian Rail Operating Rules'' in 1990.
