- YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- This is why when someone reports a strong signal, he is *rarely* close to
- the transmitter site. Even if you were 225 miles from the transmitter
- site, the signal would not be impressive--HF groundwave attenuates quite
- a bit faster than that of the broadcast band is is usually transmitted
- by more directional antennas.
-
- When I lived in Ohio, I heard signals that originate here in VA much
- better. Before anyone makes a comment on how a signal is so strong that
- it must be close, I wish they would drive to an HF facility with a
- HF reciever, Take it from someone who has done this many times that
- it is a real eye-opener. If it is strong, it is almost certainly not
- close. If it is close, it is close enough that if you know the area,
- you know the antennas.
