- Fellow SWL's:
-
- I have been enjoying my Sangean ATS-803A for some months now, and I think
- it's time to try something more.
- I heard you can get RTTY signals and decode them with some hardware/software
- and your PC and have all those news dispatches from wire services on RTTY
- being displayed/saved.
- I need some help on what to look to achieve those tasks:
- * What kind of decoder should I look for?
- * Will that decoder work somehow with my present portable (eg the ATS)?
- * Will that decoder come with appropiate software (DOS or Win) to decode,
- capture, save and search for the right stuff?
-
- *Given that all of the above are somehow fulfilled, what models/makes are
- the best recommended under a very low budget (perhaps an used one could
- be good enough)?
-
- I saw an ad from MFJ, the MFJ-1214, is this a good choice? Will it do the
- job? Will it work with a portable?
-
- I will be calling MFJ but I will really appreciate some input from you
- on this matter.
