- >What does VOA stand for and/or mean?
-
- I guess it could stand for many things, context is really required. However,
- my exposure to that acronym is Voice of America (VOA). In the shortwave
- context that would make sense as they do a lot of broadcasting to spread
- American information.

- >is it similar to VOR (or is that ROV (record on voice)?)?
- >What does HAM (as in HAM enthusiast) stand for?
-
- That is a long story and you will get all different versions of how HAM
- can to stand for a Radio Amateur operator.
-
- >What is "BFO to hear SSB voice and CW (code)"?
-
- BFO is the Beat Frequency Oscillator. It is used to "adjust" tuning that
- enables "getting" the other part of the SSB and crisping up CW transmissions.

- A matter of preference whether one uses the metric bandwidth determination
- or the cyclic definition for frequencies. Generally when discussing
- band ranges one uses the metric bandwidth e.g. 10m 6m etc. When dealing with
- specific frequencies use the Hz designation. Although there is no absolute
- need to choose one over the other.
