- USENET Theme Portfolios
-
- By request, we are restarting the formerly popular rec.photo Theme Portfolio
- program. This is a means by which rec.photo readers, their friends and
- relatives may share photos with each other. Participation is open to
- everyone; this is not a special club or clique. Selection of Themes is by
- democratic process: all Themes are nominated and voted on by rec.photo
- readers. You may submit photos for any Theme which appeals to you; regular
- participation is not a requirement.
-
- Here is how it works:
-
- On the first of the month, I will post a request for nominations for the
- next Theme to rec.photo. Everyone is welcome to send in nominations.
- You will have ten days to submit nominations. (Email would be preferred,
- but USMail communications will be possible in the near future.)
-
- On the tenth of the month, I will post a ballot. You will have ten days
- to submit your vote. Again, email is preferred.
-
- On the twentieth of the month, I will announce the winning Theme and set
- a deadline for submission of photographs for that Theme. The deadline will
- typically be the last day of the following month. This should be a
- sufficiently long time to make the photograph, get it processed and
- printed and send it to me - about 5-6 weeks.
-
- Digitized pictures are also a possibility which I will consider (depending
- on the volume and cost). If you are interested in submitting digitized
- images, please send me Email to discuss the idea.
-
- Upon reaching the deadline for submissions, the portfolio will be
- organized, a mailing list compiled with names listed in the order in
- which photos were received, and the portfolio will be sent to the first
- person on the list. Upon viewing, the recipient should swiftly send the
- portfolio on to the next person on the list (and, optionally, post
- comments to rec.photo.)
-
- Notice that this is a two-month process. I will start the process every
- month on the first of the month (this one is startig one day late), so
- there will be twelve over-lapping Theme Portfolios organized during each
- year. In order to keep them straight, they will be numbered 93-1, 93-2,
- 93-3, etc. Please pay attenion to the number when reading announcements,
- and refer to the number when corresponding with me.
-
- Each official announcement should have all of the instructions necessary
- for that step. If you have questions and wonder what to do, read the
- announcement. If you still have questions, please feel free to write me
- and I'll try to answer them (and to clarify the announcement for next
- time.) You may participate in any step, or steps, that you wish. If you
- did not vote, but want to submit photo, do it. The Theme Portfolios are
- for all of you.
