  18. I've never been to a photo fair, but it doesn't seem to make sense for
  19. someone to sell something cheaper just because they're at a fair.
  20. Indeed, some go to similar events *assuming* the prices are lower when
  21. really they're not.  Shop around a bit before going to the fair.

  23. Friends of mine went to an auction of assets from a computer
  24. distributor that closed down.  Many items were being sold for *much*
  25. *higher* than market value because the bidders didn't do their
  26. homework.  (And all items were sold "as-is"!)

  31. Unless you can develop a test roll there, I can't see how you could
  32. make any kind of comprehensive test.  Maybe the shutter sticks.  Maybe
  33. the metering is off by erratic amounts.  Maybe it stops working if you
  34. bang it a certain way.  Maybe the lens elements are slightly out of
  35. alignment.  How can you test all of this in a day?

  37. I prefer to support my local dealers.  If you wrangle enough, you'll
  38. get a competitive price.  You'll also have someone to go to if you
  39. have questions.  If you have problems, you know where they "live".  :-)

  41. If you don't like wrangling, I don't think you stand a chance at a photo
  42. fair! :-)

  49. (But be warned.  I've been known to have a slight bias towards 
  50. the Canon EOS line! :-)
