  27. Cameras of today, with all their program modes and electronic frame
  28. counters, etc., must retain state information between uses.  The Nikon
  29. maintains this information in RAM, and keeps it (briefly) between
  30. battery changes because of stored charge.  If the RAM is allowed to
  31. fade, then the camera must choose an "initial state".  The choosing and
  32. selecting of that initial state is the "total reset" (of state).

  34. There is also a "panic sequence" that returns the N8008 to a "standard"
  35. program mode.  I think it's activated by holding down the front and back
  36. wedges of the pie cluster for 1s.  See your manual for details.
