- I have a pegboard top on my gopher snake cage (29 gal. aquarium). I
- simply have a 10 lb. weight on each end of it. Thusfar, no problem with
- it (it's been 2 yrs. and counting).

- The condensation problem is only a "problem" if you don't want it. I keep
- mostly snakes of genus _Candoia_ which are from Pacific rainforests and
- will usually not feed well UNLESS there is frequently condensation in
- their cages (same for Chondropythons and some Blood Pythons).
-
- Not only do I keep these snakes in aquaria but I also have 7/8 of the top
- covered with plastic. Of course, with a setup like this, I have to open
- the top & air the cage(s) out completely at least twice a day and
- frequently check for fungal growth. It is also really importanmt to
- remove fecal material asap since it is often the spawning ground for
- fungal growth. It's a little more work, but I simply could not keep these
- species unless I provided this type of setup.
-
- Of course my Burmese are in an 8'x3'x3' wooden enclosure.
-
- So the punchline is: different snakes have different needs - find out what
- they are, & cater to them.
