- Howdy,
-
- I've had a female Leopard gecko for 18 months now. She is healthy and
- sheds normally. When shedding, she always eats her skin. I feed her
- pinkies and crickets.
-
- Recently, I bought her a companion. It is a juvenile (male?). I keep
- the juvenile in a smaller aquarium inside a larger aquarium with the
- female. The juvenile has gone through two shed cycles so far, and each
- time he has had troubles. First, he does not eat his skin. He simply
- loses it in sheets as he rubs next to bark and rocks in the tank. I am
- concerned about him because it seems that he has trouble getting the skin
- off and that he does not eat it as he sheds.
-
- Could this be a sign of a vitamin deficiency? He only eats crickets at
- this time as pinkies are too large for him. I have tried keeping his
- tank a bit more humid, and I soak him to help with the skin. However,
- I'd like to address the problem and not merely the symptoms.
-
- I'd appreciate any help and advice.
-
- Many thanks, igor
