- Recently I've noticed that in every park and along every beach where I live
- (Vancouver area) there is a sign saying "No Dogs." I think the signs don't
- mean unleashed dogs, but ANY dogs. Then I think I read a while ago that dogs
- are not going to be allowed in Pacific Rim park (on west coast of Vancouver
- Island). Maybe it's because I grew up in a small town and, besides that,
- might be in my declining years (please don't comment that the "declining
- years" part is obvious) -- but -- I do think that somehow there is a trend
- to anti-dog restrictions. This in a part of the world where people are so
- keen about the environment and on animal life!
-
- And then there is the the little matter of practically every apartment
- building saying "no pets." (By the way, those "no dogs" signs I mentioned in
- the beginning of my posting are in areas where there are houses.) My condo
- apartment building had dogs when I moved in. Now the rules are "no dogs,
- cats, birds, or fish". When I objected at the strata council meeting I had
- only one supporter in the fight against the rule change. Of course, a lot of
- the people looked over 60. So it could be a matter of the population
- "greying." I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm just noting what is a trend
- where I live, and I'm hoping it's not a trend where you live.
