- My wife and I have had a dalmatian for 3 years and have found the breed to be
- quite enjoyable for the following reasons.
-
- 1. The dog we have is extremely energetic and makes an excellent companion
- when running (jogging) for any duration.
-
- 2. We have found our dog to be quite agile. We take her rock climbing
- with us and has proven to have good balance and footing.
-
- 3. We have two young children (5 years and 1 year old) and have found our dog to be an excellent
- companion for them. The dog plays well with the children and handles
- many situations with a very easy-going temperament.
-
- 4. We have found her to be quite protective of the children and the home i
- in general.
-
- 5. We have found her to be an intelligent dog and not stubborn. She was
- house broken within one week and took first in her obedience class.
-
- On the down-side
-
- 1. The breed, in general, suffers from "submissive urination" which
- can be aggravating at times. However, working with the dog can correct
- this problem.
-
- 2. The breed does shed which requires regular cleaning of the floors.
- We keep our dog isolated in particular sections of the home to minimize
- the shedding problem.
-
- If we can be of further help please e-mail us.
