- Gret,
-
- A prong collar is one with the links having blunt prongs which protrude
- inward so that they pinch when the collar is pulled. They are usually
- available from pet supply stores and I have seen them in R.C. Steele's
- catalog.
-
- I have a dog that sounds like Spense - I think he was studying for
- his PhD in doggie scents. I didn't have to use a prong collar on
- him though, but I did have to teach him to come when called so that
- when he is absorbed in something I can call him and he will now come.
- He just didn't know what I wanted.
-
- As for pulling you out into the street behind him, if a choke collar
- doesn't work a prong probably would. Be sure to use it, or a choke
- collar correctly, though. Also, with either one I don't leave the
- collar on the dog unless it is attached to the leash and I have the leash
- firmly in my hand.
-
- Good luck,
-
- Barbara
