- I was glad to see that the boys are still together and appeared in
- Brooklyn somewhere in late '91 ... their main problem is that their
- material is Canadian issue and can only be gotten by import ... here
- is an address for a service in Vancouver (I'm not connected to them
- nor anyone else) that specializes in world/ethnic music, among other
- things. Another place in Toronto that people have tried is also
- listed.
-
-
-
- If you're looking for "import" CDs, Canada is also another possible
- source before going overseas. Nou Dadoun (dadoun@cs.ubc.ca), who
- posts now and again, is connected to Black Swan Records in Vancouver,
- B.C. but cannot publicize that in first person due to USENET ethics.
- Stuff from the Canadian CD Versions list and other imports are often
- found as Canadian domestics due to different importation laws and
- different market dynamics (smaller market, need more than mass volume
- sales). You can reach them at:
-
- Black Swan Records
- 2936 West 4th Avenue
- Vancouver, B.C.
- CANADA V6K 1R2
-
- (604) 734-2828
- (Pacific time, so you can wait 'til it's cheap to call)
-
- "... specialize in non-mainstream tunes, jazz, folk, world/ethnic
- music, etc. And for the last year or so, we've been spinning off
- a fairly healthy mailorder business."
-
- Black Swan issued their first catalog this summer; while they
- specialize in folk and "world" music, I'm sure that they can
- easily order Canadian and "import" titles since they deal with
- the same distributors anyways.
-
- I've never used him, as I can just call up my brother, and otherwise
- only know him as a bloke on the net; his userid is not for business
- usage, unfortunately. I have no other connection to this guy, your
- dealings would be strictly with him; this is just the easiest,
- simplest, laziest way for me to connect you with a source up north.
-
- Another place that comes from word of mouth recommendations is:
-
- THE CD BAR +1 416 977 6863 (fax +1 416 977 6865, also phone)
- 281 Queen St W.
- Toronto, Ontario M5V 1Z9 (CANADA)
- Imports from around the world, will ship anywhere. Visa,
- Mastercard, no COD (no AMEX) checks (but you have to wait
- for it to clear.)
