  13. As 1992 passes into oblivion, I'd like to start a thread on the best
  14. reggae recordings of the past year.  I'll start with two that I added to
  15. my collection this year.

  17. Mikey Dread - Obsession
  18.  
  19. Seventy minutes of excellent reggae.  I already owned Profile by Mikey,
  20. and this is very different.  Some people might object that it is
  21. overproduced, and I won't argue with that for the most part.  But
  22. there's a little of everything in this recording--driving rhythms, slow
  23. ballad types, big bass beat, etc.

  25. Lucky Dube - House of Exile

  27. This was recommended over in rec.music.afro-latin before this group was
  28. created.  I picked up a used copy and it is superb.  An excellent
  29. backing band provides a solid background for the intelligent lyrics.  I
  30. second the nomination for this one without reservation.

  32. What have other people found that they'd like to share?  Of course I
  33. should have posted this long before my trip to California and my
  34. pilgrimage to Tower.
