  12. About two hours ago, I successfully proposed to my
  13. girlfriend/roomate of three years, Kristen of Lemuria, on the
  14. very steps upon which I met her three and a half years ago.  She
  15. had fussed about walking out in the freezing cold, but I had been
  16. hiding the ring for two weeks (an oval blue topaz surrounded by
  17. diamonds), and after hearing Diamond Girl thursday night, just
  18. couldn
  19. 't wait anylonger.

  21. BTW, the descriptions of NYE seem extremely lacking.  To begin
  22. with, Diamond Girl is by Seals and Crofts, which puts it at about
  23. the same chart-time as all the other covers Phish do (from GTBT
  24. to Ride Captain Ride).

  26. The famous mockingbird was someone in a costume on a harness,
  27. lifted high above the stage for the entire song.

  29. The Dude of Life pushed in a lawnmower, continuing this odd
  30. obsession with 12-year-old-boyness, and, as with the famous
  31. mockingbird, being none afraid to fly straight in the face of the
  32. People magazine crap-commentary of calling them characterized by
  33. too much "jokiness".

  35. The encore was cool for a 3-set extravaganza after a long week
  36. after a short break, but, hey!  We heard both Fire and Carolina
  37. as encores earlier in the week.  It seems apparent, as well from
  38. the repitions of songs (compare 12-28-92 to 11-25-92, or the
  39. first set of 12-31-92  to 12-28&29-92), that there may be
  40. CONSCIOUS efforts to discourage touring.  (BTW, I saw three
  41. people get kicked out for fake tickets.)

  43. Also, why no fanfare over the 12-29-92 Bike?  It was psychotic,
  44. and introduced Jon's new cloak ("I've got a cloak, its a bit of a
  45. joke....)
