  35. Ok, now that I've done that, I'll try to add some historical
  36. context.  A long time ago (last year) the phish-net did not exist
  37. on usenet; it was only an electronic mailing list that came in
  38. digest form (or in single pieces of mail) whenever someone posted
  39. something.  Right around Christmas break, the number of people
  40. who still had net.access dropped substantially, and we wouldn't
  41. recieve any phishnet mail for a day at a time.  So we held a roll
  42. call.  (I think this was Carl Anderson's idea; Carl's favorite
  43. image was [and might still be] standing in the middle of a field
  44. in Maine yelling Fluffhead!!.  This started sometime soon after
  45. the Amy's Farm show.)
  46. The idea is to let each other know who is still on the net over
  47. winter vacation, and who is away from school and not checking
  48. their email.  Last year there *might* have been 50 people on the
  49. net, so the roll call turned up about 10-15 people; I wonder how
  50. many it will turn up this year...
