- Well, Shelly, I wasn't going to post re: what people should/can/should not
- post but you asked for opinions and here are mine. I think people should be
- free to post whatever they want. I've been an BITNET/INTERNET citizen for 6 or
- so years. Before that, I sat on a modem calling bulletin boards. There has
- been and will always be, a lot of stuff a single individual won't find
- interesting. There hasn't been a week that I've been using a computer to
- communicate, that I haven't seen people complain about some type of posts. I
- have always felt thatit is the price you should be willing to pay in order to
- be a citizen of the ether. I currently get the digest because I like to
- separate my mail while reading and I belong to a number of interest groups. I
- typically don't read them for 2 or 3 days and usually sort through a load of
- mail. It doesn't take me an inordinate amount of time to sift...___usually___
- (sometimes it does). I often answer pleas for tapes and have made some decent
- friends in the progress. I have been lucky enough to score tickets because of
- personal pleas (tickets not offered publicly) and have also answered pleas
- (also not public). Other interest groups have this same type of environment
- and are much larger than the PHISHNET. People try to deal with it. That isn't
- to say people shouldn't use a little good judgement. It is pretty ridiculous
- to see 20 "me too" or "yeah!" messa ges in a digest. Tape/Tix/etc ads seem
- perfectly alright to me. I read those as well as road trip accounts, set
- lists, etc. Others have made better points for these posts. Also... someone
- recently talked about not feeling community in a reserved seating show. To
- further add to my HERETIC status I'll gain after this--I prefer reserved
- seating. BLASPHEME! Well, I've REALLY done it now! I just wrote what I feel.
- This wasn't meant to be a post for what I feel others should believe but
- doubtless I'll hear about it.
