  16. Just wondering exactly what aspects of the net were difficult for you to
  17. deal with -- if something doesn't seem right to you, please post!  I had
  18. my own questions about the direction the net seemed to be headed in and
  19. wrote about it, but from the response I got the impression that I was in
  20. the minority by feeling that as a community we might want to consider some
  21. guidelines for what would be appropriate to submit to the net at large (i.e.,
  22. is it responsible for one person to command the attention of thousands of
  23. people all over the world in order to ask for one tape?).  Anyway, as I
  24. said, I came to the conclusion that others did not share my opinion and
  25. I decided to stop worrying about it :-).  But I'm still very interested in
  26. what other people have to say regarding keeping this community viable.

  32. Well, here are the best counts I can come up with right now:  there are
  33. currently about 500 folks receiving the digest, down from about 600 two
  34. weeks ago (i.e., 100 people suspended reception for the holidays).  I have
  35. a feeling, though, that a lot of people who aren't currently reading didn't
  36. bother to suspend their subscriptions, so the number of digestified
  37. participants is most likely currently significantly fewer than 500.

  39. According to the propagation & readership reports available in news.lists, 
  40. worldwide readership of rec.music.phish is estimated at 13,000 (up from
  41. 9,000 last month).  I think that that is also a little higher than the
  42. number of folks actually reading/participating, but it does give us a 
  43. vague idea of where we're at.
