- Hi,
-
- Starsend is WXPN Philadelphia 88.5fm weekly spacemusic program. It
- runs from 1 to 6 AM on Sundays Mornings. It was started, I believe by John
- Diliberto (Echoes) around the time of the Bicentennial. John created it in
- response to the enthusiasm of WXPN listeners to the new stuff then by Klaus
- Schulze, Ashra, etc. The program has inspired many second and third
- generation artists in the area like Xisle, The Nightcrawlers, D. Andrew Rath,
- George Wallace, Paul Woznicki and Darren Kearns. Some of the hosts for the
- program have included Goeff Townes (also of Echoes), Floyd Miller (former host
- of the cancelled Blue Genesis jazz), Gene Daley (now active in LA?) and
- currently Chuck Vanzyl (founder of Xisle and the Synkronos Label).
- It's advertised as "A catalyst for you fantasies, a soundscape for
- your dreams" and plays the standards like TD, Schulze, Ashra as well as
- ambient, acoustic and super mellow spacey jazz as well as mellow avante-garde
- like Robert Ashley.
- With WXPNs new transmitter anyone within 60 or so miles of Philly
- sould get decent reception with a rooftop yagi antenna.
