- With some minor exceptions all composers belong to either BMI or ASCAP.
- You can write to either BMI or ASCAP and they will forward the postal
- mail to the composer. They will not give you their mailing address
- or phone number but they will forward the mail as part of their writer
- relations. For example, I am a member of BMI as writer and publisher.
- If you didn't have any other way to reach me you could address the
- following as such:
- David A. Roth
- c/o Writer Relations
- BMI
- 320 West 57th Street
- New York, NY 10019
-
- BMI has many office just as ASCAP does and you could also call BMI
- in NY at (212) 586-2000 and ask if the composer you are trying to
- write to care of Writer Relations is a member of BMI or not. If they
- are not a member of BMI chances are they are a member of ASCAP so
- you could write to them in care of ASCAP's Writer Relations. I don't
- have ASCAP's phone number and address off hand so you will have to
- find that out yourself. They also have offices in LA and NY as BMI
- do so a call to directory info. should be helpful.
-
- The addresses they will forward the mail to are your best way to contact
- a composer since it is the same address where their royality checks are
- sent.
-
- Hope this helps!
