- I believe you are referring to "Under the Milky Way" by The Church...one of my
- favorite bands (right up there with Kate Bush and David Sylvian). The Church
- are mainly an Australian band, although I believe Marty Willson Piper, one of
- the guitarists, is from somewhere Europe. UTMW is from The Church's fifth
- album, Starfish, and is probably the closest they have had to a bonafide hit.
-
- When asked what UTMW was about, lead singer and lyricist Steve Kilbey said,
- "It's about the loneliness of being a human being...The fact that you're
- always searching for that special thing to make your life complete, and
- somehow you can never find what it is."
-
- The Church have 7 studio albums, several compilations, and a video compilation
- available. I'm completely un-objective. They're all great, but Starfish is
- a good place to start.
-
- "And it's something quite peculiar,
- Something that's shimmering and white.
- Leads you here, despite your destination
- Under the milky way tonight."
-
- E-mail me if you want any more info.
