- There's a previous recording of this on GlobeStyle's *Madagascar
- Two: Popular Music of Madagascar* from 1986. I vacillate between
- liking that one better and liking this one better, usually depending
- on how I feel about Henry Kaiser's contributions at any given
- moment. I must say that this contains one of the best-integrated
- examples of his "flurry of notes" technique that I've heard. Very
- subtle and entirely in keeping with the tone of the song. But
- Kaiser is not the reason to hear this.
-
- I took this to a Christmas party a couple of weeks ago and it was a
- big hit with everyone there, none of whom were afficianados. Great
- stuff. I'm having a hard time waiting for the next four albums in
- the series. Any idea when Shanachie is planning on releasing them?
-
- Incidentally, Tarika Sammy has an album of their own out this year
- on Rogue in the U.K. and Green Linnet in the U.S. Has anyone heard
- this? I understand they recorded it when they were in England to
- perform at the WOMAD festival in Bath this past summer.
