- But the above-mentioned extrapolated it to
- music in general. That's what the problem is about. Comparing
- Ogre to, let's say, Mariah Carey** is not possible because both
- have different agenda's. Mariah is a money hungry, opportunistic
- dealer of trite cliches who's sole means of support is a having
- a fuckable body, a voice consistent with societies expectations
- of "good", and a team of producers able to give society what
- they want.
- On the other hand, Ogre stumbles through life making
- observations and expressing himself as he knows how with a
- genuine passion. Ogre sings with a voice consistent with what HE
- see's as the proper emotional context of the song. When Ogre's
- pissed, it shows through his sound AND lyrics: "murder now
- invigorates the unwashed bloody hands kill again" (Second Tooth,
- "Cleanse, Fold, ...")
- When Carey intends to show anger, it's sung
- is as nice a voice as possible, as clearly as possible, and
- with very little emotion, except what's implied through the
- words. For example, if she sang a nonsence line: "along the
- cracked in floors dripping on the floor there sits a doctor" you
- would have no emotional context to give the song, because one of
- the only ways of showing emotion in her highly stylized "pop"
- singing is in the lyrics.
- This is not just typical of her, but "pop" music in
- general. That is why Ogre cannot be compared in the same context
- as any "pop" singer.

- the _worst_ nightmares imaginable about it last night. uuuughhh!
