- _Tape/Show ID perhaps?_
-
- OK, this one has me stumped. Haven't listened really close yet but I figured
- someone out there could solve all this in a second. I've got these tapes:
- (these are the labels; I haven't yet listened for cuts and such)
-
- 1) 90min.
- A: jam (cut here), it's a sin (there's a cut here), jam* ->
- B: jam* -> walkin' cane blues*, jam, death don't
- * w/Paul Butterfield
-
- 2) 90min
- A: dark star -> death letter blues -> cryptical -> drums -> other -> cryptical
- B: lovelight -> eleven jam -> death don't
- (cryptical series marked as "That's It for the Other One". I'm assuming here)
-
- 3) 90min
- A: dark star -> cosmic charlie -> jam
- B: jam -> death don't -> jam
-
- And here's a tape from another source:
-
- 4) 90min
- A: death don't, dark star jam, eleven, seven
- B: lovelight, drums, alligator, other, caution
-
- OK. Now tape #4 is labelled 10/9/68 (A-side) and 10/10/68 (B-side). That seems
- like a good bet, and jives with DeadBase VI - although I haven't yet carefully
- listened for Jack Casady on 10/9/68.
-
- Now. I gotta feeling that tape 1,2, and 3 are really a mix of 10/19/68 and
- 10/30/68. The "jam ->it's a sin" on side A of tape #1 could easily be the
- beginning of 10/9/68 but I didn't do the match yet - I'm spinning them now and
- will be comparing later - deck's are all tied up for a day or two.
-
- There's also a cut after the first jam on tape #1 and that jam's about
- 28 minutes in length. I'm listening to the 2nd jam now so I can't comment
- on anything after that. This tape is like *reeeeeaaaaall* laid-back and the
- Paul Butterfield harp is prominent. Saturating this tape too.....damnit..
-
- So does anyone out there have a similar bunch of Matrix tapes that they have
- confirmed labelling on? And what the hell is "Walkin' Cane Blues"?
-
- Any help appreciated. I'm sooo confused. Oh....BTW, the first three tapes are
- simply labelled "Mickey and the Hartbeats, The Matrix, San Fran, 10/68"
-
- Thanx....
