- Here's my perhaps biased two cents worth on this topic.
-
- 1). This method penalizes people with slow newsfeeds in terms of
- tape generations. Granted this is an analog tape problem but
- consider the following scenario: Trader A gets a 1st gen off
- the DAT. Trader B with his sherwood less than $200.00 dual
- deck is the first to get a response back to Trader A and gets
- the 1st 2nd gen tape. Trader L with his two NAKAMICHI DRAGONS
- gets bumped from Trader A to Trader B and gets some pretty
- narly sounding 2nd gen off DAT tapes.
-
- 2.) This method does not promote the idea that better decks should be
- used close to the trunk of the tree and poorer decks out at
- the leaves.
-
- 3.) This method may improve the speed of distribution since the most
- interested people would tend to be the first to sign up but
- would penalize traders who are away from the net for vacation or
- tours or whatever.
-
- 4.) It would be frustrating for the late starter to find out who the
- current dubbers are. I have this "pass the buck" scenario in my
- head where Trader B after making 2 or 3 dubs gets tired of
- making copies and defers his duties to someone else.
-
- I look forward to hearing the positives of this method.
