  23. One day they were a-walking along so carefully,
  24. When Mary cries, "Please, Joseph, a pickle for me,"
  25.     When Mary cries, "Please, Joseph, a pickle for me."

  27. "A pickle," says Joseph, "Now how can that be?
  28. Two miles to the nearest deli is too many for me!"
  29.  
  30. "I must have a pickle, or I shall go wild,
  31. And, by the way, Joseph, we have a little child."
  32.  
  33. Then Joseph in anger jumped up and also down,
  34. "It isn't even kosher; you've been fooling around!"
  35.  
  36. Then up piped little Jesus from in his mother's tent,
  37. "Please, Dad, give her a pickle and stop this argument!"
  38.  
  39. And as they stood amazed by the side of the road,
  40. A tree all full of pickles bent down its heavy load.

  42. On Mary showered pickles both great and small,
  43. And they bent down together and gathered them all.

  45. So Mary got her pickle, and Joseph a son,
  46. In peace and contentment they lived, every one.
