- Here is the first crop of answers to my question about the use of saxophone
- in classical music. It seems that this instrument appealed to many composers
- as soon as it was known to the musical world. The earliest piece I could
- locate is the Berlioz, performed in 1844 (The saxophone was invented in the
- early 1840's, patented in l846).
- If someone has something to add or correct, please do not hesiate to mail
- or post, and I'll update this list.
