- JCSS had a big influence on me as a kid, as did Godspell. I was
- catholic, and accuracy toward scripture wasn't stressed in my house.
- Unfortunatly, we had a poor translation of the Bible, and when my
- interest in what scripture said started when I was about 10, my mothers
- response was, "well, we don't have a very good version", rather than
- goin out and gettin gm e a good translation so we would have one.
-
- I got much of what I felt about God from JCSS. It didn't matter
- to me that no resurection was mentioned, then.
-
- Jeff Fenholt who played Jesus on Broadway, (was lead singer in
- Black Sabbath at the time now is a Christian) said once that most of the
- cast of the Broadway musical were into the occult.
-
- God used JCSS in me early life, but now as a Christian, I can't
- enjoy something that is so close to the turth, but yet so far. I can
- still enjoy Godspell.
-
- I didn't understand Judas as the 'Hero' type until I went to a
- Jesuit University, and heard Theologians explaining what a bumkin Peter
- was, and how wonderful and smart Judas was. Judas knew that Jesus wasn't
- the Warring Messiah the Jews were hoping for, and he was only trying to
- spare his friends embarassment. Anyway, I found all the Glorify Judas as
- the smart one, and Humiliate the rest as a bunch of idiots to be a
- certain theological idea, and not gospell. Yet it seemed to make it into
- JCSS.
-
- I think it's OK to listen to if you understand that it isn't
- true. There are some good things in it, but the power of the resurection
- was what set me free from drugs and alcohol, not him dying, and floating
- off to heaven somewhere on the cross.
