- Agree. Also, 'A Farewell to Kings' is similar and also good. 'Signals',
- my personal favorite, has a rather lush, artsie feel to it, though it
- is not "orchestral." Actually, there isn't much of an orchestral
- feel to *any* Rush albums, though I still think much of their work qualifies
- as "art rock." IMO they started sounding mechanical after Signals--they
- forgot how to use melody and based every song on a synth-drum sound
- and (what they thought were) deep lyrics. Rush-heads will likely flame
- me for saying that, though.
-
- Anyway, if you're just starting out with Rush, 'Hemispheres' is as decent
- a place as any to start. If you like that, try 'A Farewell to Kings',
- 'Signals', 'Permanent Waves', '2112', and 'Moving Pictures'. These
- albums are all very good, and I'm glad I have them (instead of a compilation).
-
- Earlier stuff: 'Caress of Steel' is OK, others are spotty.
- Later stuff: all spotty IMO (though I haven't heard 'Roll the Bones')
