- I am unaware of any stated reasons, but I suppose it due to a combination
- of the following:
-
- 1) Despite the title, it has almost nothing to do with the movie [which
- just happens to be amoung the absolute worst movies ever made]. The
- original LP came out due the the legal necessity of suppling a sound-
- track album for the movie. With that commitment fulfilled, any further
- unnecessary association with the Rainbow Bridge movie is probably not
- looked upon favorably.
- 2) The album was put together under Michael Jefferey, not Alan Douglas,
- the current estate musical director. Thus it suffers from "not made
- here" syndrome.
- 3) I seem to recall Rainbow Bridge was deleted from the label to make room
- for _9 to the Universe_. That one hasn't shown up on CD either [but IMO,
- unlike RB, its no great loss].
- 4) [insert disparaging remark about Alan Douglas's control of the Hendrix
- music legacy here]
-
- Scott.
