- There is an album of John Coletrane and Ellington. Called
- Coletrane and Ellington. The piano sounds like Monk. I know a
- person that has been a professional jazz and big-band musician for about
- 45 years and he said that Monk was just derivitive of Ellington. That is
- a bit strong, IMHO, but you can sure hear what he is saying on this album.
-
- The version of "In a Sentimental Mood" on this album (IMHO) is one
- of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. Before I heard it
- I always found Coletrane too strong.
