- While we're on the subject, how is the complete 1960 Miles Concert with
- Sonny Stitt and John Coltrane. I saw a store with it (it's 4 discs) for
- $40.00. Is this is really good concert?

-
- Two concerts, one of which is essential listening. The Coltrane
- portion was recorded in mid 1960 and shows the band in a Kind Of Blue
- mode, but with more extended and energetic performances. Sound quality
- is very good. I would say this is the best Miles/Trane live date - in
- fact, one of the best live acoustic Miles dates - currently available.
-
- The show with Stitt is from late 1960 and to me, it's so-so. The live
- dates with Hank Mobley from 1961 are stylistically similar but feature
- better performances by Miles, imho (the Blackhawk sets, for instance).
- Unless you're a completist, you could skip this one, imho. Sound
- quality is good.
-
-
- The two shows are available separately although the separate release
- of the Stitt date doesn't have all the material available in this new
- set.
