  34. Two data points -

  36. A friend of mine runs a large hobby shop in a big city. About
  37. a year ago he toured the Walthers warehouse as part of a
  38. convention of hobby industry dealers, suppliers, etc. Afterward
  39. he confided to me that he was shocked at the extremely
  40. sparse inventory on their warehouse shelves.

  42. I've had poor luck "getting it from Walthers" over the years.
  43. One time I had my dealer order several dozen wheelsets from
  44. them for me. Now, wheelsets are a pretty basic item in this
  45. hobby. Walthers delivered exactly ONE wheelset to my dealer;
  46. the rest were back-ordered! This is supposed to be a nation-wide
  47. distributor? They didn't even have enough wheelsets for a
  48. single boxcar (!) - how the H*** are they going to supply
  49. hobby shops all across the US???

  51. (I gave up on Walthers for wheelsets, and have been getting
  52. them reliably from Northwest Shortline ever since).

  54. No doubt we'll all now hear from the fellow on the net who is
  55. related to the Walthers family telling how great they are....
