- Right now, I don't see the need for improved handhelds, even though
- all current models use "old" technology. Tons of people are very
- happy with the Gameboy and that's the most dated of the bunch. And
- I notice that those cheesy LCD games and game watches are back in
- force; I saw lots of kids with them right after Christmas. The whole
- point is to have fun, not to be on the cutting edge.

- I think there's a correlation between graphics quality and the number
- of "me too" games for a system. Gameboy graphics are bad enough that
- new versions of old games with spiffed up visuals just won't sell.
- And Lynx graphics are good, but not such that anyone would want to
- just stare at them for their own sake. The result is that most
- generic console games come across as Really Bad on handhelds because
- their weak gameplay is very obvious--that's a Good Thing IMO.
