  29. Did you try it with either of the other 2 modes?  The reason I ask is
  30. that Castle of Illusion has a shorter game in the easy (beginner, I
  31. think) mode that is easy to beat -- I beat it the day I rented it.  I
  32. then started the real mode, which was longer and harder (I had to
  33. return it before I was able to beat it.)

  35. In general, however, I don't mind purchasing a game I have rented and
  36. enjoyed playing.  But then, I haven't played any games for more than a
  37. few hours a week for years (with the exception of the Zelda marathons
  38. and my recent Golden Axe evening ritual), so it is unlikely that I can
  39. finish a game on a 2 or 3 day rental.
