- Hello! It's time for a new kind of quiz !!! Read on !
-
- One feature that has characterized the modern music world is the proliferation
- of unusual stage monikers for musicians. David Jones changed his name to David
- Bowie, Malcolm Rebennack became Dr. John, and Richard Starkey became Ringo
- Starr. Musicians have become famous with names like Jelly Roll, Howlin' Wolf,
- Jelly Bean. The following 40 monikers were/are used by 40 members of various
- ensembles -- your job is to name the band they were/are BEST associated with.
- Some of them have gone on to successful solo careers, but I'm looking for the
- band they were with. Some of the bands are repeated. The monikers are in
- alphabetical order.
-
- Scoring: 10 points for each correct ensemble name + 5 points if you can state
- what instrument they (mainly) play/played (where vocals is lumped into
- instruments). For instance,
-
- Ringo Starr - Beatles, drummer would be worth 15 points.
- Bono - U2, singer would be worth 15 points
-
- NOTE: Although Ringo did sing, his main function in the Beatles was as drummer.
- Although Bono plays guitar (at least he did live), his main function is
- as lead vocals.
-
- If the musician was best known for playing with a solo act, then that act's name
- would be the correct answer. i.e. Van Morrison's band, Madonna's band, etc.
