- We had an Auction here in Sunny San Jose (California, not Puerto Rico!) last
- weekend, and I happened to note the prices down. With the help of John Morrison,
- I also have a grading for each machine too. This auction was NOT done by USAA or
- their affiliate Deals, but by some other outfit whose name escapes me right now.
- There were 12 pins, about 150 or more videos, a few novelties (roulette, cranes,
- gumball machines etc), one jukebox and some random coin op "stuff". The auction
- was fairly well run, but they really tried to drag every last buck out of the
- attendees. This is the first coin-op auction I've ever attended that bid items
- down to the $12.50 level - for instace, if the price is four hundred, and they
- can't get anyone to bid $425 they would attempt 412.50.
-
- There was also a 10% buyers premium, which is usually enough to convince me to
- not buy anything just on principal. It didn't work this time, and so far,
- Nitro Ground shaker has been fun :-). I missed the juke by about $25, but I
- had reached my price and it bid past it. Too bad. Note that the seller pays
- 15% of the hammer price, or more accurately receives only 85% of the selling
- price, making the 10% buyers premium even more disgusting.
-
- Off the soapbox, onto the prices:
-
- Mfg Game Condition hammer price

- A few more comments: I couldn't believe that the C- Fireball went for as
- much as it did! It was sold after the better one, and frankly *barely* got
- a C- rating. I was willing to go $100, no more. The High Speeds were
- pretty equivalent - one looked better, the other played better. The Tomcat
- had a broken backglass-- the marque was fine, just the lexan sheet in front
- of it was shattered.
-
- Have a nice holiday. Hope Santa brings you lots of quarters.
