  23.  The reasons for this is the following:
  24. 1. -2 to hit
  25. 2. The ranges of 1-4/5-8/9-12 are not bad, and the extra 15 hex max range
  26. for the ER Medium laser isn't that great in comparison.

  28.  While the extra tonnage is not good, the -2 more than compensates for the
  29. disavantage. A friend of mine designed a real munchkin mek based on medium
  30. pulse lasers and targeting computer to emphasis(sp) this point.
  31.  Using ER Medium Lasers you run out of HSs and after a while, the tonnage
  32. saving doesn't mean that much.

  34.  The ER Medium laser is the Clan version of the IS Large Laser, but it will
  35. always play second fiddle to the "Pulse" weapons IMHO. It's usefulness
  36. comes when the tonnage available is limited. I like the Dasher-D as it is a
  37. nasty mek with lots of firepower and a targeting computer.
  38.  But I think it would be better served if the mek had MPLs, in this case
  39. 2 MPL and 1 ER ML, if not 3 MPL. More accurate and delivers 21 points of 
  40. damage and that means a piloting roll........:)

  42. BTW did anyone notice that the Clan ER Large Laser didn't improve
  43. significantly. The Clan ER PPC went up to 15 Damage from 10 Damage from the
  44. Star League ER PPC. Equalling the heat output of the ER PPC for damage, but
  45. with the ER Large Laser, the damage only went up to 10 and the heat remained
  46. at 12, why? Imagine if the ER Large Laser (Clan) had equal heat and damage.
  47. 12 heat and 12 damage! Exactly what you need for a heat shot! Talk about
  48. efficient, an energy weapon that destroys heads with no waste. Glad to see
  49. that FA$A didn't do this one :)
