- Howdy all,
- So you think your good at empire. Have you ever heard
- someone you've just trashed say, "I could have beeten ya
- if I had the time." or "ya well next time I'll be ready for ya."
- Ok heres your chance to prove yourself. Metzada has given
- me access to his empire code to host a BLITZ TOURNAMENT.
- This is your chance to prove that your skills at empire
- are better then anyone elses in a blitz game format.
-
- As a general warning to all, I can't spell to save my
- life so please be kind when reading this. :)
-
- Heres how things will run. Over the next month or so I'll
- be putting 5 blitz games. Hopefully at least 1 a week.
- I'm not on a fixed schedual but I'll try and post the start of a game
- about 2 or 3 days in advance. Each of these 5 games will allow
- players to qualify for the championship round. The winner of the
- championship round will be crowned as the Blitz champ and be the
- first winner of the Golden Atom trophy awarded by Rad_Zone.
-
- These are the participation rules for players:
- A player may enter as many games as he/she wants. Its very
- possible that many players will participate in all 5 games.
- In order to advance to the final round you must place
- in the top 2 on the power chart at the end of any of the 5 games.
- This will generate 10 players for the championship game.
- Once a player has qualified for the championship round
- that player will not be allowed to enter any of the remaining
- games. They have secured there spot and can sit back and
- relax as others duke it out for the remaining spots.
-
- Choosing a country:
- In many blitz games people might log into a new country, look
- at the map, maybe not like it and find a new one.
- This WILL NOT be permited in the tournament games.
- Players may use the visitor country to find open countries.
- Once you have loged into a country its yours for the game.
- If you log into a surrounded country, unlikely but possible,
- you might as well start fighing and hope for the best.
- Players cought breaking this rule will be disqualified from
- THAT game. Chances are that I may not catch this until
- after the game has ended. If this happens and a player
- who finished in the top 2 is disqualified the 3rd place
- player will then advance to the finals. Should both winning
- players break this rule then the 3rd and 4th place people
- will advance. Hopefully this situation will never be true.
-
- In the past I generally run games from,
- 8:00AM Eastern to 11PM Eastern, with a 1/2 hour break in there
- somewhere. For players in Europe I'm planning on having
- one of the 5 blitz games suited more for your time zones.
- I also plan on running 1 game more suited for players
- on the West coast, in Alaska, or anyone else in that general
- area. Hopefully this will give everyone a chance to play.
- Now that the basic rules are taken care of here is
- version of the game.
-
- Each game will look like this:
-
- World Size: 64 x 32
-
- ETU / update: 50ETU / update.
-
- updates: For the first hour, updates are at 5 min.
- After the first hour, updates are at 10 min.
- A 1/2 hr break will be in there somewhere.
-
- HOST 128.211.1.26
- PORT 1617
-
- TIMES: To be announced.
-
- To advance: You must place in First or Second after the
- last update in any of the 5 qualifing games.
-
- COUNTRIES: For the first 5 games country starting sizes
- will be a 20 sector start islands.
-
- countries 1 - 20
- reps 1 - 20
- visitor visitor (use the visitor to find
- an open country. )
- Options: Market, Trade, and Loans will all be
- ACTIVE for this game.
- Other options see the Version file at the end
- of this posting.
-
-
- The code for this game is older code but it works and has
- been very stable. So far no problems have ever occured
- with this code on this machine but like I said it older code.
- It should work.
- The idea of setting up the chainsaw code was tossed around
- but I didn't want to mess with new code over X-Mas.
-
- A seperate posting to rec.games.empire will follow this one
- for the first game. It will contain alot of repeated
- info but it will have the staring date for Game 1.
-
- Good luck to all to play,
- Chad Zabel
- aka Rad_Zone
