- : How to avoid grand slam using precision?
- :
- Very simple and precision has nothing to do with it. You cannot play RKC
- unless a trump suit has been clearly set.
-
- The trump suit is the last bid suit only if the asker jumps to 4NT.
-
- In this case in particular responder made an unnecessary jump, which in most
- versions of precision denotes a solid suit (AKQxxx or better). Therefore,
- while responder may be interested in clubs, this is not clear, and 4NT is
- simple Blackwood. The one Ace response will make it clear that you should
- stay out of the grand slam in NT. This comment applies to all RKC sequences,
- not particularly to Precision.
-
- The problem with the above sequence is not how to avoid the grand slam, but
- how to bid the grand in spades, if the honors in E's suits are reversed.
- This depends a lot on the system used, and being no precision expert, I do
- not wish to comment on it.
