In effect yes. Partners double of 5C may have been for a lead against a suit slam -- for example RHO holds a solid heart suit. If he does not double the final contract you would have 100% lead a club. Now his double cancels thats message and asks you to lead a spade (as you would have had he never doubled).
When the opponents reach a stupid slam contract only double it if you are 100% sure it will go down on any lead that partner may be induced to make by the double (you may recall the Halloween hand I posted some weeks ago, when partner tempted by his holding a side suit (cashing) Ace and AJxx of trumps doubled 6D; on the Lightner lead of a club declarer made his contract on the Passion Coup in a hand straight out of Mollo).
Now this is very rare of course but in summary don;t double slams for penalty unless you are sure it will go down anyway. Using your doubles as lead directors will help you down slams that would othewise make, and that is a *much* better use of doubles.
