- [story about how West violated his own agreement, and did not lead
- a heart against 3NT doubled, and hence ran his 7 card spade suit and
- beat it 3 tricks.]
-
- - -800 was of course a bottom. With no outside entry, East's double seems
- - really strange. I have two questions:
- -
- - 1) If West had had a heart and still led the ace of spades, what would the
- - director have ruled?
-
- Uhh, -1400? I don't know. What I do know is that if I'd had those
- 7 spades and *5* hearts, I still would have lead a spade, even if
- partner had stood on his or her chair and doubled.
-
- Of course, it's unclear to me exactly *why* East doubled 3NT; perhaps
- it was a striped tail ass (or whatever it's called) double, ie.
- East was trying to get you to run.
-
- - 2) Was I a fool, or just fixed?
-
- You were fixed, kind of. West decided to use his/her brain, rather
- than listening to the idiot partner.
